Mount Rinjani National Park Generates IDR 25.9 Billion in PNBP Amid Rising Tourist Numbers in 2025

West Nusa Tenggara — Mount Rinjani National Park recorded strong tourism performance throughout 2025, generating IDR 25.9 billion in Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) while welcoming more than 130,000 visitors, according to official park data.

The revenue reflects the growing contribution of nature-based tourism to Indonesia’s conservation sector and national income.

Visitor statistics show 52,108 tourists accessed non-climbing areas of the park, consisting of 51,311 domestic visitors and 797 international visitors. Meanwhile, 80,214 climbers reached Mount Rinjani’s climbing routes during the year, with 43,236 foreign climbers and 36,978 domestic climbers.

Alongside the increase in tourist activity, the park also recorded several safety incidents. Throughout 2025, evacuation efforts included 58 cases of falls or sprains, five incidents of hypothermia, four health-related cases, two lost visitors, and three fatalities.

Tourism growth has also intensified environmental challenges, particularly waste management. Data shows that 30,359.52 kilograms of waste were collected from climbing activities in 2025, while 1,197.82 kilograms of waste came from non-climbing tourism areas.

Mount Rinjani National Park authorities emphasized that these figures highlight the importance of responsible tourism. Visitors are encouraged to maintain environmental awareness and support conservation efforts to ensure the sustainability of one of Indonesia’s most iconic natural destinations.
